Mike Van Arsdale b John Marsh via decision
Joe Doerkson b Patrick Cote via third round choke.
Ivan Salaverry b Joe Riggs with a choke. Said to be good.
George St. Pierre vs. Jason Miller is the opener. Good first round, dominated by St. Pierre, who bloodied up Miller badly in the nose. St. Pierre had a near Kimura and scored a lot with punches on the ground. The telling spot was Miller trying to Shawn Michaels nip up and getting punched right in the face. St. Pierre has swelling under his right eye as well.
Second round was all St. Pierre again, with effective ground & pound. He had a lot of hard punches, elbows and went for an armbar toward the end of the round.
St. Pierre dominated most of the third round with more ground & pound, with some hard shots. Largely one-sided match and has to be a 30-27 decision.
30-27 across the board for St. Pierre.
Matt Lindland vs. Travis Lutter is up next.
Lindland won the round with mostly punches while both were in the clinch. Lutter even took Lindland down. Lindland scored a high takedonw early. Not that exciting, but not slow, and Lindland’s round.
Second round was boring. Lindland was on top, and keeping busy but not doing real damage, and then shockingly caught Lutter in a guillotine for the tap.
Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg for the welterweight title is next.
This was a hell of a short match. Trigg accidentally kneed Hughes in the groin but the ref missed it. Trigg pounded on Hughes on the ground, nearly got a choke, and came close to finishing Hughes. Hughes escaped a choke, picked Trigg up and ran across the ring and delivered an old school Oklahoma Stampede. It was then his turn to deliver a pounding and go for a few chokes, and finally Trigg was caught and tapped.
Renato Babalu vs. Travis Wiuff is next.
First round went to Babalu. They traded takedowns and it was largely a wrestling match. Babalu struck more effectively and won the round.
Wiuff did a single leg takedown. Babalu fainted a triangle but got the armbar 24 seconds into round two.
Main event is up now with Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell.
First round knockout for Chuck Liddell. He got stunned with a left hook and cracked him with a right cross and Couture was out in maybe 2:00.
