This column is supposed to be about last night’s Raw. But since yesterday a lot has happened with the WWE that Raw isn’t exactly my number one priority at the moment. Sunday I talked about Rhyno being released and since yesterday two more major WWE super stars have gotten the axe from the WWE. I definitely can’t let these two releases go without mentioning them. But before I get into the latest firings, first I have more to say about the Rhyno situation.
As many of you know the reason supposedly for Rhyno’s firing was the scene that he caused in the hotel lobby after Wrestlemania. But more came out yesterday and remember this is what is going around. I can’t tell you if it’s factual but here’s the reason they say that Rhyno reacted the way he did. He is going through a very tough situation in his personal life. It seems that his marriage is over and that his ex wife or soon to be ex wife is moving to Germany with his little girl. She was supposed to bring the baby to see Rhyno in California during Wrestlemania, but she came alone. This caused Rhyno to lose it. While it might not have been the smartest move, it did not warrant a firing in my books. A simple listen we don’t want to see that again, would have been enough. It’s pretty sad to knock someone down who is already has low as he can go. This reason if true upsets me even more. Where was the support for Terry (Rhyno) Gerin?
And this pattern followed yesterday’s release of Matt Hardy. The story going around is that WWE management was upset that Matt took the break up with Lita to the fans and made it public. They were behind Edge and Lita for staying silent while all of this was going on. Well gee, I don’t know was Lita going to post by the way I’m now with one of my boyfriends best friends, and by the way it’s Edge, and he’s married but with me? No I don’t think so, naturally Edge and Lita wanted to keep a low profile. So Matt got it because he was so heartbroken that he just vented to his fans on his site. Talk about knocking a guy down even further then he is, not only did he lose his girlfriend but his lost his job. I realize that none of what I’m talking about other than Matt’s release is something that is certain, and I also realize that it’s one sided, we really haven’t heard any announcements from WWE regarding Rhyno or Matt. But when you read what supposedly triggered the firings you have to wonder, why not as I said talk to Rhyno, send Matt to Smackdown, and help these guys get through some very negative things that have hit them in their lives? I’ll guarantee you or at least I really believe that TNA has a chance to get Rhyno and Matt and we all know that Matt has a big following, and the more top talent Vince dumps the more competition he is making against himself because TNA will do all they can to pick these wrestlers up.
Guess what? The latest to be released is Molly Holly, it’s on WWE.com. I guess it’s pretty obvious that Vince could care less about the women’s division, and I guess it’s pretty obvious that Vince is trying to save a lot of money by releasing as many men/women as he can. And I guess he needs that money to throw down the toilet for another worthless Diva Contest. Vince didn’t seem to get the message last year that the contest bored the hell out of most fans, no; he’s going to do it all over again. And instead of keeping named talent he’s going to toss them out on their asses and pay another girl a large sum of money to do nothing, nothing at all. Now in all fairness to Christy I feel she has come a LONG WAY. Last night she took some good shots from Molly and Trish and she seems to really want to learn the ropes, but believe me another Diva Contest is not needed.
If Vince wants to save money and cut talent then I say release, Snitzky, Heidenreich, Viscera, Chris Masters, Lauren, Rochelle and Joy just to name a few. The reports say that more cuts are to come, and I have a feeling the next one to go is Shannon Moore because he is so close with Matt.
I’m depressed with what has happened in the last few days, it kind of makes you wonder, what the hell Vince is thinking. Also Jesus and Chilly Willy were cut as well. Why they signed Chilly Willy in the first place is beyond me. As far as Jesus, I don’t know if he had a future or not, but I suppose they would have waited to see how he was once he came back from his neck surgery. I just want to end this by saying that the last thing that I want to do is to get into the whole Edge/Lita/Matt thing, however this all became public when WWE.com posted the release of Matt Hardy. And like many fans I now want to give my thoughts on Matt’s release. I’m sorry that I didn’t talk about Raw, but I will say I liked the show a lot. The only two things I didn’t like were Chris Masters. The more I see him and hear him the more I can’t take him at all. The gimmick stinks as does his mic work and his segment by far was the worst last night. Also Dave Batista had a very weak interview with JR. I don’t like Batista coming off that way; I would much prefer the Batista that is cool, calm, where nothing shakes him up. I don’t want to hear him doing a typical speech about how he’s going to do this and that and so on. So I was very disappointed with the Batista segment. Other than that it was a very good show. Okay hopefully no more cuts to write about this week and I’ll be back on Friday to discuss Smackdown.
