It seems that every time you turn around, a columnist is making their Wrestle mania 21 predictions. So I wanted to be a little different without being left out. So in this column, I will pick the winners of each match with a probability percentage. The probability percentage is based on how strongly I believe a certain wrestler will win his match.
In addition to the predictions, I will add my thoughts on what I believe the aftermath of the outcome will be. The buzz is in the air, so let’s get to it.
30 MAN BATTLE ROYAL-I’m a little foggy on what exactly is taking place in this match. The reports say it may not even air on the WM 21 broadcast. Either way, if The Royal Rumble was any indication of what WWE Battle Royal’s will be like, this match will leave nothing to be desired.
Winner:Booker T (If Matt Hardy does not make an appearance).
Probability: Booker T 65% or Matt Hardy 90%
THE AFTERMATH:Not knowing exactly what is on the line makes the aftermath somewhat difficult to write. I believe that the winner may receive a shot at their respective World Title or perhaps the newly restored T.V. or European title. Either way, it looks like Booker is up for another big push and so is “Version 1”. Either way, I don’t believe that any of us will be disappointed in the Battle Royal or the aftermath for that matter.
PIPER’S PIT w/ “STONE COLD” STEVE AUSTIN-Well, there is no winner or loser to pick on this one. I believe that more than likely, Mohammad Hussan will interrupt Piper’s Pit and be the victim of a “Stone Cold Stunner”. It should be entertaining at least. A Stunner on Piper is more than unlikely..
Probability of Stunner on Piper: 25%
REY MISTERIO vs. EDDIE GUERRERO- The build up for this match has been very similar to every other build up in history when a match between 2 friends takes place. There is a REAL long standing friendship between Eddie and Rey that has been somewhat decently exploited by the WWE. I don’t believe that Chavo’s “pep talks” with Eddie have added much to the story though. I have no doubts that this match will be awesome.
Winner:Rey Misterio 85%
THE AFTERMATH:An Eddie Guerrero heel turn has been teased for some time now. I believe that it will come shortly after this match (probably on Smack down in a week or 2). Eddie and Rey will have a short feud and in the near future we will see Rey with another Cruiser weight Title run.
THE BIG SHOW vs. AKEBONO-I could care less about this match. I have to wonder if they are going to shoot on this. I highly doubt it, but that could be the only way to peek anyone’s interest in this match.
WINNER:Akebono 95%
AFTERMATH:None I believe. I believe that Akebono will get the win as a ploy for the WWE to reel in some of the Japanese viewers. Akebono will disappear out of the WWE and The Big Show will go back to his always “floating” career.
RANDY ORTON vs. THE UNDERTAKER- The “Legend Killer” push that is falling vs. The over the hill and once prominent and undefeated Undertaker. At first I believed that Randy Orton would defeat Taker, but seeing that Orton is getting shoulder surgery, this should be a victory for the Dead Man. I honestly believe Orton would have won this match (and needed to) if it wasn’t for the surgery. Orton would have lost a lot of momentum had he had to show his face on Raw a “loser”, but he will probably suffer a severe beating at WM21, disappear and come back with another big push.
Winner:The Undertaker 65%
AFTERMATH:I believe that the feud will end here….for now. Taker will go back to his everyday Smack down life and Orton will lick his wounds after the beating he took at Wrestle mania. Either Orton will comeback and ignore his loss or will become back on Smack down to pick up his feud with Taker and get the win he so desperately wants. Just not at Wrestle mania.
TRISH vs. CHRISTY HEMME- The most over-pushed superstar in wrestling since Bill Goldberg will get a totally undeserved shot at the Women’s Title. The Women’s Title has gotten some prestige with fighting champs like Trish, Molly and Victoria holding it, but I believe that a Christy Hemme victory will destroy ALL of it’s credibility.
Winner:Christy Hemme 95%
AFTERMATH: This Women’s Title victory should serve as nothing more than a push for Christy Hemme’s “Playboy” Magazine photo spread. Hopefully Trish will get revenge and take her belt back on Raw the next night and we can all forget this horrible “David Arquette type” moment in wrestling history.
KURT ANGLE vs. SHAWN MICHAELS-No doubt in my mind, this will be match of the year. These are 2 of the greatest workers, entertainers and performers in the history of pro wrestling. This should be a classic that will run at least 30 minutes. This is the match that I am most looking forward to.
Winner:Kurt Angle 70%
AFTERMATH:I have my doubts to this match being the end of the feud. More than likely one of the 2 will switch shows and continue their feud. I can’t see a disappointing match anywhere. I hope to see this become one of the greatest feuds in history. I believe that Michaels has nothing to gain by beating Angle, but a win by Angle will solidify a future Hall Of Fame induction. On a quick note, HBK calls himself “Mr. Wrestle mania”…Michaels has lost virtually every Wrestle mania match he’s been in.
MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH-I believe that Hussan should have been in this match instead of Kane. Kane is clearly out of his league athletically. This match has all the makings to be a classic. The ladder match experience in this match is second to none. There is a lot on the line (I believe the I.C. belt should have been up for grabs also), so every competitor should give 110%.
WINNER:Edge 70%
AFTERMATH:Edge will not want to wait long to get his shot at the World Title. Look for Edge to challenge The World Champion at Backlash and lose (once again). Edge’s push as of late has been off and on. I don’t believe that the WWE has much time left to make him a top notch superstar before he becomes the next Billy Gunn.
JOHN CENA vs. JBL (WWE Title)-Cena is without a doubt, the most popular superstar in the WWE (and yes even more than Batista). I believe that this match will more than likely be mediocre at best and will see a fairly predictable outcome.
WINNER:Cena 75%
AFTERMATH:Although I believe that Cena will come out victorious, I don’t believe that it will hurt Cena’scareer to lose. Regardless of who walks out as champ at Wrestle mania 21, this feud will continue for a while. An entertaining feud it will be with more than likely poor matches to follow.
HHH vs. DAVE BATISTA (World Title)-I believe that the general population of wrestling fans are expecting too much from this match. I believe on an in-ring level, this will be the most boring match of the night. Neither participant has a large repertoire of moves and Batista’s ability to “sell” leaves a lot to be desired. The only thing that can make this match worth talking about is HHH’s ability to be incredible in big match situations.
WINNER-Batista 100%
AFTERMATH-I believe that Dave Batista NEEDS to win this match after all the hype building up to WM 21. If he doesn’t win, he will be considered a Goldberg type superstar who was basically nothing more than a “flash in the pan”. If Batista by some miracle loses this match, look for him to lose most of his “Heat” and wind up there every Sunday night more than likely.
