I’m absolutely sick of it! The Legend Killer himself getting booed on Raw, and spit all over by the wrestling community. Who in the world cares that Randy Orton placed feces in one of the diva’s bag while on Raw. Look, I don’t give a rip about this whole Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita love triangle. I don’t boo Lita, and complain about her in wrestling forums because she screwed Edge. She can screw Vince McMahon, and the whole WWE locker room for all I care. That’s her personal business. What matters is when she gets into that ring she gives it her all. Orton gives Raw his all. Raw is his life! Wrestling is his life! I don’t get the up roar on Raw about Randy Orton. Feces does NOT effect your ability as a wrestler.
I’ve listened to a lot of crap as a columnist. While it’s effected me, it hasn’t effected my outspoken attitude. I mean, who cared about John Bradshaw Layfield mocking the German crowd with a Nazi salute? Who cares about Matt Hardy and Edge screwing Lita at the same time? This doesn’t effect Matt Hardy or Edge as a wrestler. Bradshaw’s nazi salute didn’t effect his wrestling ability, if anything it furthered his character. People asked him to resign the WWE, when this occured. The same people who are now on the JBL bandwagon, and cheering him on as the longest reigning WWE champion. In three months you all will be bowing to the feet of Orton faster then you bowed to the feet of John Bradshaw Layfield. You all flip-flop faster then John Kerry at a four hundred dollar pancake fundraiser. Face it, your loving this. Backstage politics drives you as wrestling fans. Any bit of scrapes you can get from the backstage in the WWE, you’ll talk about like you just read it out of a tabloid. One minute you’ll love him, the next you’ll hate him. It’s wrestling for peep sakes. Not a episode of the “Young and The Restless”.
From his arrogant battles with the 3 time WWE champion Mick Foley where he beat Foley twice, to his long awaited win over Chris Benoit to become the youngest World champion in wrestling history one thing is clear: Randy Orton has always impressed us. Look at the list of his ‘Legend Killer’ list: Jerry Lawler, Jake Roberts, Mick Foley, Harley Race, Fabulous Moolah, Ric Flair, and others. These are some of the most incredible wrestling legends in our industry, killed by Randy Orton. By one swoop of the RKO their legacy went up in smoke. And by one swoop of a RKO, another legend is made. In my eyes, Randy is well on his way to becoming a legend himself. He’s faced and defeat some of the best in the business. He’s been the longest reigning Intercontinental champion in the last seven years, and he’s the youngest World Heavyweight champion in history. And at WrestleMania when he defeats the Deadman, he will make his name in stone as not only a Legend killer, not only a Legacy killer, but a Legend!
I hear all around wrestling today about how horrible Orton is as a face. I think that’s B.S. Whether face or heel, Orton is one of the hardest workers on the Raw locker room and arguably one of the fastest rising superstars in wrestling history. Are you the same people who said JBL was a horrible heel? Are you the same ones who called me nuts for proclaiming JBL the next WWE champion? And are you the ones who now IM me on-line and e-mail me to tell me how right I actually was? Face it, Orton has you wrapped around his little finger. He’s cocky, he’s arrogant, but your loving every minute of it. All the critics say he can’t beat Undertaker at Wrestle Mania 21. I hope Orton does. To shut each and every one of you up. Randy Orton is a wrestling phenomenon, and a incredible performer. He’s ten times the athlete and competitor then Undertaker has ever been. Taker’s slowing down, his pace is quickly becoming that of a snails pace. It’s time for his legendary legacy to come to a end. 12-0 will turn to 12-1 with-in one swoop of the RKO. Consider this a warning wrestling fans, legend killed. All thanks to Randy Orton.
When the man of destiny does beat the Undertaker, I want you to remember one thing. I’m right! And I’m 100% right about Randy Orton. As a matter of fact, I’ve always been right about Orton. Switch him to SmackDown, leave him on Raw. It doesn’t matter. Orton is here to stay. You loved him a month ago, but you hate him now. Consider yourself warned. Legend killed, new legend made. His name? Randy Orton!
Before I go I want to talk briefly about Lockdown, TNA’s three hour mega-PPV. Any reader of mine, knows I’m a TNA critic when I need to be. While I think the Ultimate X and Six Sides Of Steel matches have been overused by TNA, I know they are learning from their woes. I hope these two Six Sides Of Steel matches will be the last for a long time. I heard from sources with-in the wrestling world that TNA’s big anniversary show may see the Phenomenal A.J. Styles regain his crown as NWA champion. To top that the wrestling world is still buzzing about possibly having the Rock for a special appearance at some point, the possibility of moving TNA to Spike TV, and all the attention TNA is getting from the Superbowl to Blue Collar TV. While I criticize TNA when I must, I also must give them a thumbs up when they’ve taken a step in the right direction. And they have.
On a side note, I’m not just a columnist, I’m a column administrator at three different websites. WrestleInformer, 3 Count, and WrestleStop are the three websites I am column administrator at. If your a columnist, or want to be one e-mail me with some samples of your work. Experience isn’t needed, but it sure would help. All applications will be read, and I’ll be fair when hiring. So please, show off your talent. E-mail me, and show me what your made of. Back to business….
In other news, in one week Hulk Hogan will walk back onto a WWE stage for the first time in over a year. While I’m not a very big fan of Hulkster, I respect what he’s done for this business. And I think it’s great that WWE is honoring him at the Hall Of Fame, and even though I question his wrestling ability I hope to see him in a match at Mania’ or at least a confrontation. I’m also looking forward to Pipers Pit. The possibility of having Hassan interrupt, and attack Austin setting up a future match between the two is exciting news to say the least. I’ll have more on this next week though.
I hope you all enjoy WrestleMania 21. I will have a column out exactly a week from today on WrestleMania day, so please look out for that. It will talk about the “incumbent” champions Triple H and John Bradshaw Layfield defending their title against Batista and John Cena in what I think will be two matches for the ages. I will also discuss Undertaker and Orton again, and talk about what HBK and Angle truly means for the business. All that plus more, next week right here at [The Wright Idea!]. Thank you so much to every one who overwhelming read and responded to my last column. Please feel free to do the same this time as well.
Till next time……
Have A Nice Day, The Wright Way!
“We need a strong military and we need to lead strong alliances. And then, with confidence and determination, we will be able to tell the terrorists: You will lose and we will win. The future doesn’t belong to fear; it belongs to freedom.” – John Kerry
