Here in the States it’s Super Bowl Sunday, but since I’m not a football fan, today is going to be Linda’s Super Bowl Sunday Vent Column. I have something I want to deal with and it’s about HHH, but also since I am a fan of Hunter’s this column is also about an email I received with Hunter as the subject, and me as someone that needs to stop singing Hunter’s praises. You will see what I mean. Okay I apologize to those of you that really could care less about reading anything that has to do with Hunter, but this is something I really wanted to talk about.
It’s been a while since I have defended my favorite wrestler, Triple H. But I couldn’t let a few comments by an extremely close minded so called journalist on a main site and an email I got slip. I will start off by saying that when I offered to give out the link for the Braveheart ad with Hunter and Ric Flair, I got more responses than I ever before asking for the link. That right this was something that not only made me happy but the requests started immediately. I will continue to give it out as long as I’m asked. The second best part of all of this was that fans that really don’t like Hunter were open minded enough to tell me that the commercial was hysterical and that he did an excellent job. See things like that impress me so much. It’s just too bad that this so called journalist that I mentioned above found another way on his site to bash Hunter. And his bashing just makes him look like a bigger moron than he already is. I am not going to quote him word for word because I don’t want to mention this jerks name. Okay I would be lying if I said this man never gives Hunter any credit, but it’s not often, and when he does criticize Hunter it’s brutal and the majority of times so totally unfair and ridiculous. Let me give you an example of this.
When this guy did his Smackdown report he immediately blasted the Braveheart commercial. Remember everyone is entitled to their own opinion and believe me you don’t have to agree with me and I always respect a person for saying what’s on his or her mind; however in my opinion this bashing of Braveheart was nothing more than a way to write more crap against Hunter. See the more his rips Hunter the more so many on his site join in and follow his lead. So he gets into Braveheart almost immediately and says things like the following. Remember this is not word for word. He had to throw it in that there’s not enough of Hunter on Raw now Smackdown has to show that commercial. But he didn’t say anything about Smackdown showing Eugene’s Forrest Gump commercial that’s because Hunter wasn’t in it. Then this guy says this is a wrestling program and that the parody is not going to sell tickets to the pay per view. Again ridiculous, it’s WWE’s way of just showing that the WWE is going Hollywood for the biggest WWE event of the year, Wrestlemania. Then he continues to knock the ad because Hunter is supposed to be this tough guy, making it humorous makes no sense. Now obviously this man really doesn’t watch Hunter because we all know Hunter has a sense of humor and he has shown his humor on Raw for years. And then is comes up with if WWE wants to show real TV shows they need to keep their wrestlers in character, like Eugene in the Forrest Gump ad. Again that is crazy, why not let these guys and women spoof a movie with humor? It’s just the wrestlers taking a scene from a movie and adding their own special thing to it. And finally he ends with his distaste of the way Ric Flair was used. Ric Flair shines in this; he’s there to make it an even better ad with his Wooo’s and his putting Hunter over one of the top movie stars in the business, Mel Gibson.
As I said he’s entitled to his opinion but I’m seeing this as another way just to make Hunter the heavy in real life. To give you an idea about this person, back in June 2002 I emailed him asking him why he is on Hunter so much. He then emailed me back with an answer and I responded right back, this went back and forth for five hours, and I am serious when I tell you that. Finally I had to leave for a live Smackdown show. The thing that made me realize that I was dealing with an idiot was when he told me that he has a right to bash and rip Hunter anytime because Hunter gave him that right when he started banging the boss’s daughter. That comment was an eye opener to me and I realized just what I was dealing with, this guy decided that Hunter wasn’t to have a personal life and now Hunter made himself a target to this man and others I knew that replying back was worthless and that was it, no more emails to his guy from me.
Many of my friends tell me to stay away from his site and I should but I guess I go there thinking that just maybe he will realize it’s time to stop the Hunter crap. But I can see that’s not going to happen. So I guess doing this is my way of hoping he’ll read it, and I’m laughing because I know he won’t.
But this also ties in to an email I got a few days ago. It came from a reader that used to email me a lot then stopped. Well he emailed me to tell me basically that Hunter and Flair are kiss asses and probably kiss each other ass and that I’m annoying because always saying Hunter is this and Hunter that, in other words I’m always praising him. I was going to email him back because I always respond whether you agree with me or want to put me in my place, but this time I didn’t bother. I know this boy and I know that anything I would say would really not do a thing. So against my better judgment I deleted his email. I would like to think that when Hunter is not good I write that, and I would like to think that even though I’m not a fan of the Rock’s that I still praise him when I feel he comes through. I hope too God I’m not like that journalist I mentioned, and I really hope that Hunter comes off fair in my columns. Listen, like so many of you I too am sick of Hunter holding the title, there’s nothing I want to see more than to have Hunter lose it and keep away from it for a very long time. But other than that he’s a hell of a worker in and out of the ring, and his wrestling has been awesome since he has been injury free. So in my books he deserves the praise. By no means do I see him as being perfect but also he is not the total asshole that the jerk that I talked about and others want so many to believe he is. Okay that’s it I’m sorry to do this but for me it was a super way to vent.
So tomorrow it’s Raw in Tokyo, and I can’t wait for this one. My friend was there and she just raved about the show. And from reading the spoilers the fans were outstanding so tomorrow’s show should be really awesome. I’ll be back Tuesday to talk about Tokyo’s Raw.
