As much as I’m excited about watching the Royal Rumble tonight I am going to miss the Royal Rumble commercial so much. But hopefully Vince will come up with another good one for Wrestlemania. Okay before I go on I have two apologies to make. I am so embarrassed by two things that I printed in my column I almost just posted a column yesterday telling each and every one of you how sorry I am. The first is even though both brands will be in San Jose, California tomorrow night; we the TV fans will just see the Raw brand. It’s the fans that are there live that will see Raw and then be there for the Smackdown taping. I just read things wrong thinking both brands would be on Raw and I am so sorry for giving all of you the wrong information. My second blunder? Some of you have emailed me with your predictions talking about Brock maybe being the 30th guy in the Rumble. And I immediately came back with no whether he comes back or not, that 30th spot is Batista’s. I reminded some of you that Dave won that right when he won his beat the clock match. Dear God, what was I thinking? Sure he got the last spot in the Elimination Chamber match because of that Beat the Clock victory, but my mind being the way it is forgot about that and thought it was all tied in with tonight’s Rumble match. I feel like a complete idiot for all of this and while I would love to say I promise to be more careful, I’m sure this won’t be the last time I screw things up. So again please forgive me for both errors. Now for my Rumble predictions. The only match that has me totally baffled is Shawn Michaels vs. Edge. Other than that I’m fairly confident that my picks are good, really good.
Undertaker vs. John Heindenreich – Casket Match. I am getting the worst over first. I’m not going to say too much about this one. I see Taker winning, and I am hoping that when this is over so is the feud. There are rumor going around is that Wrestlemania will have Taker and Kane vs. Sntizky and Heindenreich. While that might not be too bad just having Taker and Heindenreich one on one has been dreadful. Let this match at least end Taker and Snitzky one on one.
Winner: Undertaker
WWE Championship Match – JBL vs. Kurt Angle vs. Big Show
I have a feeling that with all three of these guys in here this match should come off pretty good. I expect some humor and some good wrestling but mostly I expect JBL will hang on and go to Wrestlemania with the title. I will say that JBL against Kurt has looked good in fact better than I could ever imagine so with Kurt in there Show and JBL should come off looking sharp out there.
Winner: JBL
Shawn Michaels vs. Edge
This is so tough and from the feedback that I have received many of you feel the exact same way. While I have been going with Shawn probably until Thursday, I am now going to pick Edge. I have done a lot of thinking about this one, and my reason for Edge winning is this. Shawn doesn’t need a win, but Edge definitely does. If the push of Edge is going to continue a win against HBK is a MUST, another loss would make Edge look weak. I have to go with Edge and I can’t see this one being anything but outstanding. I’m very excited about watching this one probably because the chemistry is so good between both men.
Winner: Edge
World Heavyweight Title Match – Triple H vs. Randy Orton
I can’t see Randy winning tonight at all. And I don’t know if Hunter will win cleanly or with a little help from his friends, Batista and Ric Flair. While Randy will leave without the title I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s added to the main event against Triple H and Batista at Wrestlemania. But since it’s the Royal Rumble let me just say that like the Shawn and Edge match I am looking forward to these two in the ring. This should be a hot match and I am hoping the crowd gets really into it.
Winner: Triple H
The Royal Rumble – Raw Participants – Edge, Shelton Benjamin, Christian, Kane, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, Snitzky, Simon Dean, Hurricane Helms, Coach, Viscera, Batista, Hassan and Ric Flair, Smackdown Participants – Daniel Puder, Booker T, Charlie Haas, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Orlando Jordan, Scotty Too Hotty, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Kenzo Suzuki, Hardcore Holly, Renee Dupree, Paul London and number 30th is opened.
Last years Rumble was one of the best I had ever seen. I am hoping this one tops that. While I wish I could be a mind reader and tell you in what order these guys will go out, I can’t but I have a feeling that Cena and Batista are going to be two of the main guys that remain. On one hand I know Cena is a favorite with so many and I certainly can’t say he’s not going to get it. But with all the buildup Batista has received, and how hot his interaction is with Hunter I have to go with Dave. I’m sticking with Dave but a Cena win or an HBK win definitely wouldn’t surprise me. I can’t wait for this one it should be an hour of pure entertainment. And if Brock Lesnar is there then fine, I can live with that as long as he doesn’t win the Rumble.
Okay there you have it also I read an interview with Michael Cole and he said that the Bashams are going to have a match on Heat so naturally I will give them a victory as well. Enjoy the show tonight and Tuesday I’ll be back with my RR thoughts and Raw thoughts.
