PRIDE Fighting Championships officially announced a TV deal with Fox Sports Net in the United States to air a monthly broadcast, on the television ratings success of the Ultimate Fighting Championships. The show will debut on Sunday, August 21 at 9pm local time on FSN affiliates.
The deal has been official since last week, when it was first reported by the website MMA Weekly.
The announcement by Dream Stage Entertainment, the parent company of PRIDE, on Tuesday is part of a larger rebound of mixed martial arts on TV in the United States since the cable ban of the UFC in the mid-1990s.
The first one hour broadcast is scheduled to include the following matches: Quinton Jackson vs. Chuck Liddell (originally aired on Final Conflict 2003), Fedor Emelianenko vs. Gary Goodridge (Total Elimination 2003), Mirko Cro Cop vs. Igor Vovchanchyn (Total Elimination 2003) and Wanderlei Silva vs. Jackson (Final Conflict 2003).
