I came up with a theme today. Now this could be a one time thing depending how you like this. But today’s column is called WASSUPWITDAT? And I have Hurricane Helms to thank for this one. There are definitely a few things going on in WWE that make me ask what’s up with that. So let me get started.
Let’s see Jazz, Nidia, and Gail Kim all got the pink slip. All three of these women seemed to lack any creative buildup the whole time they were there. They’re out but the losers from the Diva contest are invading both Raw and Smackdown. So yes I ask WASSUPWITDAT? I don’t understand this at all. Joy, Michelle, and Amy on Smackdown have been basically thrown into major angles. And on Raw we have Maria, Melina (whom by the way was not in the contest), and Candice all getting some on air time. Instead of Vince giving the fans top notch wrestling matches and good storylines, he seems to feel that eye candy is needed and has been missed by the majority of the fans. So forget about Jazz and Gail with their wrestling skills, and Nidia really never got the chance to show if she could make in the ring, it’s time to kill the women’s division on Raw and on Smackdown it’s let’s throw these chics in, whether it makes sense or not because the bring some sexiness to the show. No way are these women making things worse, but they certainly aren’t helping things. For a man that dumped so many to save money, I cannot understand why he feels the need to bring in more outsiders that don’t wrestle and offer so very little.
We all know Bob Holly beat the hell out of Renee Dupree a couple of weeks ago, and instead of getting fired he received some ridiculous punishment’s, including, a fine, jobbing to some wrestler in a dark match and as we all saw last week on Smackdown having to put up with the Tough Enough guys dressed in drag coming on to him. I’ve been bitching non stop that this man should have been fired, but as of late something new has popped up on the internet. According to the rumors, Bob was given the green light by higher ups in the company to put Renee in his place. WASSUPWITDAT?? Well if this is true it would certainly explain Holly not being released, and all the minor punishments he’s received. But my God a major company like WWE gives the okay for Holly to teach Renee a lesson that is nothing but crap. I don’t care if Dupree is a snitch, an arrogant bastard and hated backstage. If he’s all that and more than Vince should have fired him months ago. It upsets me to think that WWE stands behind a bully like Holly, and even worse is Holly getting permission to be nothing more than a thug when it’s needed. This whole thing has angered me so much and I feel that this trend will continue. No one is going to screw with Vince, now how sad is that?
Chavo and Billy Kidman have some definite heat between them. Well why not? Billy Kidmam put Chavo out for months because of the shooting star press, and never once did Billy show any remorse. Paul London and Billy Kidman also have a lot of heat between them, because Kidman broke London’s nose and I believe attacked him once he was down. See doesn’t this all sound exciting? The more these three are on Thursday nights the more interesting their feuds get. But wait they haven’t been on Smackdown for weeks especially Paul London. In fact the three of them have made their home on Velocity as of late. So I ask WASSUPWITDAT?? I know I’ve mentioned this before but it’s really sad and disgusting that this storyline is not considered hot and important enough to be put on Thursday’s show. I don’t know about you, but I know I would rather seen any of these guys along with Spike, Shannon Moore, Akio and even Funaki put on a five star match than have the Tough Enough crap take up the time. Or have Kurt Angle have his fun with a “hometown hero.” I truly believe the lack of on air time for Chavo and Billy is hurting the show. Smackdown has again become a bore fest. There’s too much filler and not enough solid matches. If the cruiserweights are being kept down because of their size than it doesn’t say much for Vince. The fans don’t care if the guy is a giant or under 6 feet tall, the fans just want to see the best on TV and right now they aren’t getting it.
So there you have it, just a few things that make me wonder WASSUPWITDAT?? Okay it’s on to Raw in Charlotte, North Carolina. And I read that Fozzy will perform which makes sense since Chris Jericho will be Raw’s GM for the night. He said last week it’s going to be one big party and I’m looking forward to watching the show. We know Trish will be defending her title against Lita and speaking of titles who is the World Heavyweight Champion? I’m thinking Hunter is getting it back, but I could be wrong. I’m hoping for a fun and entertaining show, because last week’s wasn’t exactly a blockbuster.
