The Holy Grail

Unfortunately in wrestling the Holy Grail in which Vince McMahon coveted was the combination of the former WCW and ECW with his dominant product, the WWE. The blood that fills his grail is the list you see above.
You see the Invasion was what we all coveted and we got it. Do you remember that the influx of talent caused the WWE to create the famed and debated roster split? For you new fans the WWE used to run storylines continuously from Raw to Smackdown and back to Raw. Vince and the suits at Titan Towers proudly proclaimed that the roster split would revolutionize wrestling. The split has revolutionized wrestling the way Toussaint L’Overture’s actions revolutionized Haiti… ‘nough said.
You see for the first time ever I am completely incensed at the decisions of the WWE. You know I must be pissed because this is the second column I am posting this week. If amiable Mr. Brown is furious imagine the true wrestle head out there.
LOOK AT THE LIST! The whole gay wrestler (Rico, Gunn, and Palumbo) angle was released. Here we have a Diva Search that results in 3 divas being hired only to replace proven Divas. Gail Kim was not only a fabulous wrestler she is a better wrestler than any champion on any show and the suits know it.
WWE has lost more wrestlers this year than they have employed as active wrestlers on Smackdown! (26 to 25). Numbers don’t lie so take a look at the data below.
The Raw Roster – 44 people
Actual wrestlers – 34
Active wrestlers – 28
The Smackdown! Roster – 41 people
Actual wrestlers – 33
Active wrestlers – 25
For those of us weak in mathematics 25 + 28 = The end of the brand split.
Internet reports claim that the morale is low backstage at the shows… No Sugar Honey Iced, etc. I would fear for my job, too.
You see the landscape is now officially changed. The interest of the fans is not an issue for the check writers as it has never been one before. The decision makers for the WWE seem to follow trends. Baseball powers say, “Screw the fans.” Basketball powers say, “Screw the fans.” Hockey powers say, “Screw the fans.” The WWE is now clearly following the trend. We begged the WWE to improve its product and what did we get? A Playboy evening gown match.
The end of the roster split is inevitable. The creation of a wrestler’s union is not far behind. Look at the decisions that have been made regarding the fate of the following wrestlers:
Test – injured on the job, fired anyway
Jacqueline – champion one week fired the next
Rico – returns to huge applause last week, jobless the next
Rue Debona – replaced by a Rue Debona look alike
A-Train – does what the company asks, gets fired anyway
The monopolization of the wrestling industry has actually hurt someone other than fans, the wrestlers. There is no where else to work. There is no competition to drive up their wages. There is no protection for their job. How long do you think it will be before the wrestlers become so fearful that they decide to unionize and protect the career that they love so much? I guarantee it will be faster than Vince can cut another wrestler.
King Arthur and his men never found the Holy Grail. Indiana Jones faced great peril in his attempts at the intangible trophy. Like removing Excalibur from the stone, the capture of the Holy Grail was reserved for the Chosen One.
How does the blood in that cup taste Mr. McMahon?
Signs That the Roster Split is Inevitable
1. There are 10 divas left on the combined roster. Only 5 wrestle.
2. The WWE is conducting a poll about merging the tag titles on WWE.com
3. When was the last time you saw the Cruiserweight title defended on Smackdown!?
4. Future PPV posters have not been released on their normal schedule.
5. A little birdie told me
