The Ric Flair USA Today article has been picked up by plenty of news sources, including newswires and other newspapers who have repritned it. This should really help the book sell even better than what it’s been doing. They’ve been pushing the fact on RAW that it was at #5 on the New York Times Bestseller List this past week.
As mentioned yesterday, RAW scored a 3.7 last night. In more of an update on that, the highest rated quarter on the show was the overrun, which did a 4.1. The Divas Search segment did a 4.0. Ugh.
In an interesting note, several sites are reporting that WWE.com didn’t have a Byte This! preview, or guests listed for tomorrow’s show. As I write this, the situation hasn’t changed.
WWE is advertising JBL vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. The Undertaker for the WWE Championship for their SmackDown brand house shows in August. When that match isn’t the main event, it has been replaced with Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle.
ESPN’s 25 Countdown continues, and this week, the XFL made it as the second worst flop in the past 25 years of sports. Ouch.
There will be a repeat of an April episode of Hollywood Squares tonight, with Hulk Hogan and Evan Marriott appearing.
Kimberly Page is appearing in a movie. You can read more about it HERE.
There were talks backstage at the SmackDown tapings that Rob Van Dam is definitely getting pushed back since debuting on the show, seeing as that’s his second straight week on Velocity. He worked against Rene Durpee at Tuesday’s tapings. He will hopefully be back on SmackDown soon, seeing as SummerSlam is approaching and WWE should use him on that PPV. Also, it should be noted that RVD was in the midst of signing a new deal, and he also had back pains during the tour of Japan, so those reasons could add as to why he’s not in a feud, and why he’s not used on SmackDown.
More SmackDown notes… Chris Candido, former WWF Tag Team Champion, was backstage at the SmackDown tapings visiting old friends… Rene Dupree got a bloody lip after working Rob Van Dam for the Velocity tapings.
The following includes spoilers. Please do not read below if you’re not interested in knowing what will happen this Thursday night on SmackDown.
Kurt Angle went on a power trip this past Thursday night on SmackDown, and fired several people including Tony Chimmel, Funaki, and the SmackDown Divas. At the end of the show, Vince McMahon made an appearance and said that Kurt Angle is no longer the SmackDown General Manager. McMahon rehired everyone who was fired.
