No member of the McMahon family is currently scheduled for a WrestleMania match. That could certainly change between now and March, but as of this time Vince McMahon hasn’t brought up the idea of working a match on the show.
Wrestlers have not been happy with the “no intermission” policy that has been on a trial run in recent weeks at house shows. Not only do crowds get burned out, but it hurts merchandise sales since intermission is a big merchandise selling period.
Jeremy Borash wrote in his “Borash Report” last week a few tidbits about wrestlers’ strange quirks. He said the first thing Jeff Jarrett does in a hotel room is rip off the comforters since those are rarely washed, unlike sheets which are washed between guests. Konnan immediately takes off all lamp shades.
Ring of Honor announced a new title, called the Pure Wrestling Title, which will help it return to its roots. Originally conceived as a no-frills traditional promotion, it has loosened up its style over the last year or so in order to attract a wider fan base. But in recognition of its roots, it is adding a Pure Wrestling Title. A competitor in a “Pure Wrestling Title” match is only allowed three rope breaks. After that, holding a rope will not force the break of a submission hold. There will be a 20 count on the floor strictly enforced, so no extended out-of-ring brawls will be allowed. Closed fist punches will result in penalties and DQs. Using the fist will cost the wrestler a rope break. If no rope breaks are left because he has used all three already, he will be disqualified. An eight-man tournament will be held on a date to be determined later. “You can never tell what is going to happen next in ROH, but one thing you can count on is that ROH will always be based on the best athletic action going today,” states the press release.
