No venting for me I’m done at least for now, that’s because Raw was a hell of show last night. I loved it from the beginning to the end. Steve Austin was on his game, Ric Flair was well Ric, oh there’s so much more. So let me get right into it. Let me get rid of the things that I found not that terrific then on to a lot of highlights.
I give credit to Test for being in that No DQ match with his broken foot against Shane. I thought the match itself was very good, very entertaining. What killed it though was having Test continually signal for Kane, I mean I think he tried calling Kane out for 10 minutes and the more he did that the more annoying Test and that whole segment got. The match was done very well yet that really took away from it. Also Shane finally being able to see Kane out there and make their match for the Survivor Series an Ambulance Match kind of just died with the fans. I think they could have made Shane and Kane’s interacting a lot more meaningful than last night. Also, Booker vs. Rico, what happened to our little butterfly Rico? He was all wrestling last night. The match was so quick there was really no build up, it was just a filler and that’s too bad. I think a dancing Rico vs. Booker could have been funny especially watching Booker react to him.
So we have a new guy getting a try out with Hurricane Helms. John Heidenreich, and we hear him talk about Little Johnny a lot. In fact John showed up the first time at my Chicago Raw in the parking lot talking to Steve Austin, and yeah Little Johnny came up then. Oh I don’t think I want to tell you what my take is on Little Johnny but I think Helms’s reaction said it all. Anyway it’s really not fair for me to say this, since it was John’s first match, but I didn’t like what I saw, and I really didn’t care for this great build up JR was giving him. A little too soon if you ask me. But I will say it was nice seeing La Resistance wrestle Helms and Heindenreich instead of YOU KNOW WHOM. And the thing that really pained me last night was seeing Lance Storm get thrown to the lion, Mark Henry. Why would they take a man that has a new gimmick a gimmick that fans seem to like, and put him in the ring with Henry? It was like Storm was getting his first tryout with WWE, and that angered me. Then when Shawn Michaels came out to super kick Henry I was hoping Shawn would go to Lance. I felt this would have at least given Lance some I don’t know importance with HBK being there for him. But no Shawn just walked right past him and Lance was just on the floor. Oh was I mad.
But that’s it everything else was just awesome. Austin was hysterical in the opening with Evolution. His line to Flair about his pacemaker, GOLD! Austin was so good with Jonathan Coachman. You know I’m never happy to see the announcer’s get involved, but Coach was terrific with his Steve Austin book review. He was smooth, and Austin was just as good. Ric Flair, how about that face he made when I believe Austin told him to close his mouth? Batista did a nice job with his promo. I had no idea what to expect and I was very pleased. This guy really needs to have time on the mic as well as in the ring to see just what he is capable of.
I’m loving the Jericho/Christian and Trish/Lita angle. Last night I really could feel a heel turn by Trish. She came off a little un facey too me. Okay un facey isn’t a word but you know what I am saying. I’m so sorry to say I missed the women’s fatal fourway match due to a damn phone call. I read it was done very well and I hope Bottom Line shows it. Okay back to Christian and Jericho, so what are they up too? Well one thing I know they are up to no good. I love the way this is playing out.
Next week it Mark Henry vs. The HeartBreak Cracker. Theodore Long I love you, you make me laugh everytime you speak. You do it with such sincerity, yet it’s so damn funny. I say let Long talk every week the guy is great. Long really brings great humor to his character. He’s definitely my PLAYA! Like Batista, I thought Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak did a good job on the mic while they were arguing about hanging with the big boys. I liked this segment and it seems Shawn Michaels did too. He was there to light a fire under these guys and it seemed to work Their match against Randy Orton and Ric Flair was a good one. And it was so cool seeing Flair get pinned thanks to Maven’s interferance. And speaking of Maven, how come he’s out there so much when Randy and Ric are around? I say because like Trish it’s only a matter of time before he turns heel and joins Evolution as it is now, or as rumored with Randy Orton as the leader.
The main event, which was for the IC Title, turned out to be a fantastic cage, match with Chris Jericho vs. RVD. It started out as a one on one match with Jericho winning thanks to Eric Bishcoff, but Austin immediately came out, let the win stand but continued the match into the cage. I loved watching Jericho and Van Damn kill each other in there, this was by far the match of the night. It also ended with Team Bischoff, Scott Steiner, Christian and I guess Mark Henry taking on Team Austin, Booker T and RVD but then Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley came out to aid the faces, it was a damn good ending a very exciting ending. And a very good Raw. We now know it’s Goldberg vs.Triple H at The Survivor Series for the World Championship. That too was made by Austin at the beginning of the show after Eric tried to strip Goldberg of the title. Eric’s reasoning was that Goldberg was out after the injuries he got from Batista last week, but Austin stopped Eric in his tracks and set up the match for the pay per view. Well I’m smiling, just about everything worked last night. So onto Smackdown and I look forward to it being as good as Raw if not better.
