I’ve been very positive about WWE programming for the past several months. Sure things have not been perfect but for the most part I have tried to write more upbeat things about the shows then focus on the miserable things. However this past week two things really got to me. One has to do with No Mercy and the Kurt Angle vs. John Cena match. The other, Vince McMahon and Sable on Smackdown this past week. I’m sorry to say that after these to incidents, especially the Vince/Sable thing, I started feeling all that negativity come back and come back in a big way. I don’t want that I don’t want to feel the way I did a year or so ago, when watching Raw was torture. So I figure today I will VENT, since I really haven’t in awhile, and hopefully when Raw comes on Monday night I’m going to be back in my happy mode again.
Now I know there are tons of Kurt Angle fans out there, and this is not about Kurt, no it’s about so many that love him on the Internet. I’m pissed that Kurt Angle won at No Mercy. This match should have been the match that not only gave John Cena the win, but also moved him up to main event material. Why did Kurt have to win? It wasn’t a title match; Kurt could have easily jobbed to Cena last week. Now maybe Cena will win next month at the pay per view against Kurt, but No Mercy was the time and place for victory. Not only does Kurt’s win anger me, but what I think angers me more is the fact that all the so called “SMARKS” didn’t have one complaint about the Angle win. Now if it were Triple H that beat Cena, these people would have been bashing the hell out of him. But it’s Kurt Angle a man that so many from this group seem to see him as total perfection. Sure Kurt’s matches are always outstanding, the guy has it all, but come on, not faulting him for his win is kind of a double standard. Yes Kurt is ONE OF WWE’S best, but if Hunter has clout backstage, you don’t think Kurt does? Of course he does and that win over Cena just makes me believe that even more.
There was a rumor about Kurt I would say three months ago that he was starting to map out his own matches and call the shots. It was posted on only a few sites, and then it died right away. I say let’s end the double standard, yeah Hunter should job but so should Angle and others. The booking was wrong last week at No Mercy for the Cena/Angle match, and now all I can say is John better win at the Survivor Series. Wait it better be a rematch and not Kurt vs. Chris Benoit. That’s been done so much let’s hold off on that one.
Now for my Vince rant. As you probably noticed I did not write a Smackdown column on Friday. I think I am the only one around the net that DESPISED Smackdown. There were some great matches, but truthfully I don’t remember who wrestled whom, why because Vince McMahon ruined the show for me. Was there a reason for that man and Sable to be on through out most of the show? No there wasn’t, and did we have to see every little facial expression Vince made? No we didn’t, and watching Sable play dead next to Vince isn’t exactly entertaining either. I don’t need her shoved down my throat and I certainly don’t need Vince taking over close to two hours of what could have been a very good show. And now Vince has put himself right back on top with his Survivor Series Buried Alive Match against Undertaker. So now I have to put up with this man taking over precious on airtime of some very good wrestlers all to feed his ego. I’ve decided Vince is doing this just to irk all of us that week after week complain about his TV time. He’s not going to step down to make Smackdown a better show, no he’s going to show up to tell all of us that bitch about him, screw you, I will do what I want. So for now on I will watch Smackdown, expect the worst from Vince and focus on the wrestling and the guys and women that work their asses off to be there. I have no one to blame but myself for letting Vince and his sidekick get the best of me Thursday night. Like I tell so many that email me if you don’t like it turn it off, and I guess I should have taken my own advice. But I don’t want it to come to that so I have to just have a mind set that it’s the Vince McMahon show and wrestling comes second. Sad but true, also sad was that fact that Paul Heyman returned and by the time he changed the main event with Taker vs. Big Show and Brock Lesnar three times, he was already getting on my nerves. It was a pitiful main event, it was way too long, but it was just another reason to show the many faces of Vince.
Okay there you have it my bitchfest for today. And I feel better already. On to Raw. Will Goldberg be there? Well I’ve read two different things, he’s either totally off tomorrow night to sell his injuries that Batista laid on him last week, or he will be there but will not be wrestling. I’m hoping that Team Austin will be completed, and I can’t wait to see my man Ric Flair. And Congratulations to Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon. It’s a nice change of pace wishing a couple that just married yesterday all the best, instead of sending out condolences for another wrestler’s death. So Triple H and Stephanie have a happy and long life together.
