Last night’s SmackDown! scored a 3.2 national rating with a five share.
Obviously, that number is not too strong. WWE tried an experiment for last night’s show, by featuring a sixty-minute ironman match on free TV, taking up half the TV time. Although the reviews for the match have been nothing but positive amongst internet fans, it seems that the concept did not totally intrigue casual fans.
Assuming that more detailed numbers do not reveal something to the contrary, it seems that WWE officials will have some justification as to prevent long wrestling matches from airing on free TV, as this one did not draw a desirable rating. Thus, you may not see another ironman match on free WWE TV for a long-time, if ever.
