Hey yo. You’re reading yet another edition of News & Analysis, this one focusing on the latest news in pro wrestling. Thanks for checking it out, and away we go…
If you haven’t heard about it, Triple H injured himself last week following RAW. When the cameras stopped rolling, WWE had a Bonus Match for the crowd in attendance, as Triple H defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Bill Goldberg. Why is this happening you might wonder? As a reminder, Bill Goldberg’s contract has limited dates he has to work, therefore WWE decided to work the bonus match as a way to see how the two work together and what can be done to improve. It’s also a nice bonus for the crowd in attendance. At any rate, Triple H suffered a groin injury, and latest reports indicate that he pulled his groin. He was taken out of the Australian Tour, and will not be in action for a while.
Some people say that due to Triple H’s injury, the SummerSlam main event is now in jeopardy. Others are starting a conspiracy theory that it’s a way for Triple H to get away from the match and possibly dropping the belt to Goldberg. What’s my take on this? Triple H can be an asshole about a lot of things, but he would never do such a thing. HHH has wrestled INJURED on many occasions in the past and is not someone who tries to get away from a match. I hardly doubt that’s what’s going on and if I were you, I wouldn’t look into it so much. My guess is that if Triple H’s groin is badly injured, he won’t see any in-ring action until SummerSlam, where injured or not, he’ll give it his best shot. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Speaking of SummerSlam, the current rumored card for the event looks something like this:
– Triple H (c) vs. Bill Goldberg — World Heavyweight Championship
– Kurt Angle (c) vs. Brock Lesnar (?) — WWE Championship
– Shane McMahon vs. Kane
– Chris Benoit vs. Rhyno
– The Dudley Boyz vs. La Resistance — World Tag Teams Championship
I am pretty sure that all of the matches above will take place at the PPV, with the only one I’m not so sure about being the tag team belts bout. I’m also guessing that there will be some sort of stipulation added to Shane vs. Kane, since everybody is expecting for Shane to bump like crazy for Kane and take “the big one” again. This is a whole other issue I’ll get to in another edition of N & A, but a lot of Internet “analysts” seem not to realize that the only reason Shane was put on TV was to put Kane over.
The RAW brand superstars just completed a tour of Australia. As stated above Triple H didn’t work the show due to his injury. Ric Flair missed the first show due to a late flight, as he missed the original flight out to Australia from Los Angeles. In another significant note from the tour, Kevin Nash was signing autographs when he passed out. It’s believed that extreme exhaustion or a pinched nerve were the cause for the problem. This is yet to be straightened out. As the WWE Superstars fly to Vancouver for RAW today, it’s expected that tomorrow’s RAW will be centered more on storylines and less around wrestling, as everybody in the brand is extremely tired and exhausted.
This past week there was an update on the cause of death of Elizabeth Hulette (Miss Elizabeth). After the autopsy was performed, the results were released the other day, and as it turns out the 42-year-old Hulette passed out due to mixing alcohol and drugs. At the time of her death, Hulette had a blood alcohol level of 0.29, and several drugs were found in her system — painkillers, tranquilizers, and nausea medication. Her death is now officially accidental and listed as “acute toxicity.” There’s absolutely no reason to believe that her death was a foul play or suicide, but it was rather accidental. This is really a sad ending for the life of one of wrestling’s true legends. R.I.P. Elizabeth Hulette.
Hulk Hogan is currently resting in Hawaii. Good. Stay there.
In a recent radio interview, Jim Ross stated that Steve Austin will get into the ring one last time ONLY if he’s 100% sure in himself that he can work a match, and that it’ll be worth it. Ross also teased that his match will have something to do with his Co-General Manager position.
That will do it for this news update. Thanks for your time folks, and keep checking for more on our main page. The newsboard and Forums should be back soon!
Thanks for reading. See ya.
