Well my friends, after a very average Royal Rumble, I was expecting a subpar RAW. But I think that WWE delivered on this one. Actually, let me state my point of view for a second. I’m NOT looking at this from the standpoint of an internet fool who thinks he might as well damn be a writer or wrestler for WWE. If you look at it like that (which just about everyone does) then you can only find fault in the product.
Looking at this RAW from a FAN’S perspective – you’ve got to like what you’re seeing! On the one hand we have Jericho and Test beginning what should be the feud that launches Test into the main event. I’ve been waiting to see if this guy can mix it up with the best of them. It would be entertaining! I can’t say that I liked watching the copious amounts of replays of the Stacy getting the shit knocked out of her angle, but that does add a level of intrigue to the whole scene.
I thought one of the best parts of RAW was the ending. Though since I’m looking at this from a fan’s perspective, I won’t get into the fact that Triple H is joining with those men because THEY are the people that fans want to see…but I WILL comment on the fact that bringing back a power group is just what RAW needs right now. As a fan, I don’t want to see the Four Horsemen back again. My best memories of them were of their original incarnation and the beastings (yes, BEASTINGS) that they used to give Dusty Rhodes. They had a slight chance to regain that former glory in some of their past regroupings, but let the history be history. However, I still have that thought in my head that they only put the Four Horsemen thing on Confidential a few weeks ago as a predecessor to this group.
Lord knows with Ric Flair, they can’t be reforming Degeneration X. LOL!
Then we have Austin. My only concern with this whole thing is that Stephanie said that she has a mega big set of boo — oops. I meant a mega big bombshell to drop on Smackdown. I pray to GOD that it’s not that she has signed Austin to Smackdown. We just went through that horrible storyline with Steiner. But you have to admit that it IS intriguing to think about whether or not Austin is going to come back to RAW. And to think of him interjecting himself into a main event style storyline brings me chills. Maybe, just maybe, we can oust Triple H from the top spot on RAW. It was a great in ring session for Bischoff last night. He dropped two big bombshells, though one was from the literary world (letting Austin tell his side of the story).
We also saw the continuation of the Dudleyz vs. Morley, though the idea of Morley being able to control other superstars is rather abhorrent. I mean, this guy has no qualifications to be “Chief of Staff.” But we shall see how this one plays out. It’s pretty interesting now.
Maybe it’s just me, but I LIKE Victoria and Steven Richards together. They are just out of their minds! I love it. They are a very entertaining combination. And on the same vein, you have to like the pairing of Trish and Hurricane. It’s different, but it works.
At any rate, WWE is trying to give us something to watch and I think that they have done a good job. Steiner playing the role of Rhodes to Triple H/Orton/Batista/Flair’s Four Horsemen role was classic. I just wish that he won the title last night so it would have flowed better from one night to the next.
Anywho, class starts again for me today and that means that I’ll be bringing many different political and social ideas from my teachers back here to talk about. Hope you all enjoy!
