Here’s hoping that HHH didn’t suffer too much from his knee injury last night. He was mobile enough to limp around at the end of the taping, but the word is that he didn’t move after the cameras stopped rolling and was stretchered out.
Everyone seems to be putting a lot past Faarooq. Many people seem to think that Ron Simmons has seen his best days and that is true in most respects as a singles wrestler. However, with Bradshaw becoming more and more the force of the APA it has led many people to believe that Faarooq maybe retiring soon. What I have been led to believe is that the WWF is putting the APA in some minor feuds to see if they can’t get the duo to regain the tag team straps. After a brilliant showing at Judgment Day and an excellent follow-up feud with the Radicalz on RAW, the rumors of Faarooq retiring have seemed to subside…at least for now. I think that it is a safe bet to say that in the next few years, men who were at the pinnacle of their careers a few years ago will start to retire and that Faarooq will be among them. Repeat – in the next few years – NOT tomorrow as some people would have you believe.
I would like to thank everyone who has written me about how the internet has gotten out of control. I appreciate that you understand where I am coming from in trying to stop some crap before it even starts.
Rumor has it that Tarjiri will be debuting as soon as he gets used to the rings that the WWF uses. Paul Heyman has been very big on all of his ECW recruits backstage, but even he has been stating that Tajiri needs to get more comfortable in the bigger rings and the timing and planning of his high profile spots. With the dark matches that he has been wrestling lately, his debut date may be closer than anyone knows.
I haven’t gotten a follow-up report on Tommy Dreamer going to the WCW, but I have been asking around. When I get news on it, I’ll give it to you.
Paul Bearer has been considered to have a bigger on-air role (which would be any on-air role). However, with the dominance of women playing the part of the valet/manager lately (from Trish to Terri to Lita to Stephanie), it is looking more and more like Paul Bearer will pursue his other job in the WWF, that of being a talent relations representative for the WWF’s Farm System.
One of the big ECW recruits that the WWF has acquired has to be Jerry Lynn. Both Paul Heyman and Pat Patterson have been working with Jerry to morph his ECW style of promos into the WWF style. The first shot of this was seen at Judgment Day when Lynn lambasted Jim Ross for not being on the show. On a related note, why wasn’t Jerry Lynn on the show? Granted, I thought that most of the matches were 8 out of 10 stars, the PPV ended 15 minutes early. All the WWF had to do was give Lynn and another good cruiserweight (maybe Brian Christopher, maybe Essa Rios, maybe even someone like Tajiri) about 10 minutes at the beginning of the show and they would have lifted the roof off of the place. In an otherwise excellent PPV, the WWFs time management with this particular situation was poor.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has e-mailed me telling me that enough is enough of the BS stories out there.
