As I reported yesterday, Ted DiBiase has been contacted by some minor federations to make an appearance. I received an e-mail from a fan who heard DiBiase speak and this is what it said:
“I just want to let you know that at one of his Christian Seminars, Ted Diabiase all but ruled out making another apperance for either WCW or WWF. He basically said that they both promote lifestyles that he does not approve of, so don’t count on him ever returning, even to ECW.”
Now, after I got this I did a little research (thanks to casper for sending me in the right direction) and apparently a minister from “the Grace Outreach Center is challenging Ted DiBiase, a former World Wrestling Federation superstar known as the “Million Dollar Man,” to a wrestling match Wednesday…The program, to be held Sept. 20 at the Grace Outreach Church, 2900 Southern, is geared toward 12- to 19-year-olds but Farley said he hopes families including “grandmas and whoever” will join in.” This was taken from http://www.abqjournal.com (The Albuquerque Journal).
Apparently everyone in the WCW is flying high off of last week’s Monday night ratings results. The fact that the WWF only scored a 5.8 to NITRO’s 3.2 seems to be an uplifting ordeal in the locker room. However, the WWF Talent Relations office says that they are in no way in fear of losing the ratings war anytime soon and that the numbers are strictly a result of the poor support that they (the WWF) receive from the USA Network. The WWF feels that now that they are back to their regular time, they will regain their usual 6.0 or higher rating. Also, it is being said that the judges in the USA Network appeal case waited for these particular numbers to see the effect that the USA Network’s policies have on the WWF’s presence in the ratings game. Incidentally, Smackdown scored a 4.9 with an 8.2 share which translates into just about 5 million households watching Smackdown! this past Thursday.
Contrary to reports from ABC Television, the WWFE and NBC are NOT auditioning players for storylines for their new league, the XFL. The ABC Television Network also states that many of the players in the XFL would never make it in the NFL…duh! (I haven’t said duh in ages) The WWFE and NBC are not looking to compete with the NFL as has been stated numerous times. They are, however, looking to make a new league with the entertainment value of the WWF and the validity of NBC. Basically, the ABC people are afraid that Monday Night Football ratings will continue to decline with the XFL premiere season approaching so they are starting to give bad reviews of the league already.
I am still in the process of hiring people to work at the new areas of my site including movie reviewers and video game reviewers/columnists. If anyone is interested, then let me know. Thanks!
