Last night in the Monday night wars, we were treated to four unadulterated hours of wrestling action from the WCW followed by the WWF. The results are listed on the newsboard and there is a commentary available to read about the shows by the lair’s columnist in training, Iggy.
Quick shot out to The Rick…I hear ya!
As for the shows, the NITRO program continues to lack in the production area among other areas such as spots. The wrestlers are obviously giving it their all on both NITRO and Thunder, but it is quite hard for them to get over with the crowd the way that the WWFer’s do when you have blood spilling two feet from where it is supposed to hit them. I mean if you saw NITRO last night then you know that just as Nash was going to jack knife Russo, blood spilled from the ceiling, but it landed way off course.
Another consistant mistake in the WCW program is that the announcers continually talk when they are not supposed to. There is a point just before the commercial break where there should be no speaking at all, but Madden and the crew continually talk right through that part and it comes off as second rate. I am not being nit picky with these things, but I would expect more and I’m sure that the fans at home would expect more from the WCW…you know with the New Blood taking over the wrestling, maybe there should be a revolution of sorts in the production crew.
It is these minor details that make a good show great.
I will have the latest ratings in the Ratings War area as soon as they are available.
Those of you who have been reading my updates know that I have been stricken with an “Indy Fever” so to speak. I am URGING you to check out the CWF as well as one of the best New Jersey Independent stars, The Great Cerenzio! I will be going to see the ECPW tomorrow at their training facility’s show and I will be seeing the CWF later on in June as they bring in some ECW stars for their mega show! More information will continue to be posted on the newsboard.
If you are an avid internet reader, then you know that there were some botched endings at Judgement Day. The most obvious was the main event where the Undertaker came out a few seconds too late. This delay was attributed to the starting of the motorcycle as the video of the dancing little girls played. The cycle was supposed to be started before the video montage so that he would arrive on time. However, the WWF is making an interesting storyline out of the minor mistake, putting more pressure on Shawn Michaels as the WWF’s new Spokesperson.
The WCW seems to be taking a step in the right direction as far as mending old wounds as it is being reported that Dusty Rhodes will be hired to host the WCW Classics show on Turner South. I cannot confirm or deny this rumor, but I can say that Dusty recently headlined an ECW card a few days ago. More on this story as it comes.
Speaking of the ECW, I’m sure that you have all heard that Paul E. has offered a full unconditional release to Raven from the ECW. Again, there has been no official word from either man, but there has been a lot of internet speculation regarding this story. There is one thing that I would like to ponder…where would Raven be a better fit? In the talent stocked WWF or in the WCW that is trying to climb out of the gutter? Interesting query. Apparently, Raven cannot go to the WWF for a few more months, but can take the WCW on as soon as he would like to.
There are some folks on the internet that are speculating that Shaq is going to be the WCW’s major surprise that will change the face of the New Blood and the WCW forever. I don’t know about that. How can O’Neill be such an influence that he changes the face of the WCW forever? I think that the internet may be jumping the gun a little bit on this story.
For all of you rock and roll fans, Jim Ross announced at RAW that Kid Rock will be at next week’s RAW live from Vancouver. I can’t wait to see what the WWF will be planning on doing with Kid Rock, but I know that it will have to do with the Undertaker. If you haven’t noticed by now, the Undertaker’s old theme has been meshed with Kid Rock’s new hit, American Bad Ass to form the Taker’s new entrance music. The WWF has done a great job setting up an entrance for The Undertaker, but I think that the motorcycle will have to take a rest after a while. It just doesn’t give a good production on TV.
