This week I am going to focus on the Steiner Brothers. To me, and Mark Madden, these two are the future of the sport of pro wrestling in some facets of the game. This article will try to highlight the ups and downs of the duo and what each one can and probably will contribute to the sport in the future.
If you are talking about the Steiner Brothers, you have to hit on the recent super-stardom of Scott Steiner. At one point in his career, Scott was ready to hang up the boots due to a lacking physical ailment…ailment no more! Scott Steiner has set the standard as far as bodies in the sport go, but at the same time he has redefined the role of a face/heel in the WCW. Most of the WCW talent is either strictly face or heel. There are no tweeners in the WCW, except for Scott Steiner. When Big Poppa Pump goes to the microphone he grabs the attention of the fans and gets everyone to “holla” cause they hear him! He gets a reaction from the fans. Most wrestlers would kill to get any reaction from the fans. Hell, Steiner gets both a face and a heel reaction! Incredible.
Scott’s future is definitely headed straight for the World Title, but there is some speculation as to whether or not he would make a good WCW World Champion or a WWF World Champion. As far as I think, he would make a terrific WWF champ because of the attitude. He would also fit into the WWF’s storylines much more easier because his character is edgier than most of the others in the WCW. However, he and his brother recently re-signed with the WCW, so don’t expect either one to jump any type of ship in the near future.
Rick Steiner is the veteran of the duo. Where it comes to wrestling, Rick can stomp Scott any day of the week and twice on Sunday. However, Scott has become a foil of sorts in getting the other side of Rick out. Recently, we have seen a more intensified Rick Steiner. A heel if you will. Rich has joined his brother and the two are romping and stomping through their competition. This is what is going to lead the two of them to higher grounds.
In the future, I expect to see the World Title strap around the waist of Scott Steiner while Rick is looking to grab that U.S. gold. The two of them will be known (or could be known, I should say) as one of the most destructive forces in the WCW’s history. They can both fly, they can execute beautiful power moves, and they can work the crowd. They have all of the ingredients of a major tag team, but more iimportantly, they have the makings of the future of the WCW. Signing their new contracts, they could wind up being just that.
That’s my mindless drivel for this edition! Check back next time! Thanks for reading! Bye!!!
