With the latest edition of the babblings, I examine the WCW’s current top ten pushees and what is just going on around the WCW!
The number one man that Bischoff wants to push is Hollywood Hogan. After that, his choices are Kevin Nash, Randy Savage, Sting, Lex Luger, Scott Steiner, Ric Steiner, Ric Flair, Goldberg, and Roddy Piper. Bischoff has also recently claimed that if Bret Hart should return to wrestling, he would be placed between Savage and Sting. This is Bischoff’s master plan. This is how Bischoff will regain his ratings…or is it?
Hogan has been one of the biggest draws in wrestling history. Repeat, in wrestling history. This is not history nowadays and Hogan is not the draw that he once was. Bischoff and the rest of the WCW’s staff are hell bent on the notion that Hogan will always be the biggest draw in professional wrestling. Just look at their web site! Their columnists and journalists are constantly saying that Hogan is the biggest. The truth of the fact is that the biggest draw in wrestling right NOW (the only time that really matters) is Stone Cold Steve Austin. Basically, my thoughts on Hogan getting the primary push are simply that anyone else in the company should be getting this accolade. Hogan was worthy of the number one spot about fifteen years ago. But folks, that was fifteen years ago.
The next three men on Bischoff’s master list are Kevin Nash, Randy Savage, and Sting. There are dozens of problems with these men backstage to begin with! Nash is the head booker and has been doing a decent job as of late but he has pissed off more than one younger wrestler by giving the belt to himself rather than one of the newer guys. There are so many problems with Nash having a prominent role in the WCW that there is not enough time to write them all down! Next, Randy Savage has the charisma, the attitude, and the style of a great wrestler…a great wrestler from the early ninties. This shows again how behind the times the WCW is. What they have in Savage is a washed up icon who really needs to take a back seat and do some opening matches and stay away from the main event. Yes, he can still wrestle it up with the best of them, but he would have more quality if he was wrestling a lesser competition. Also, he has upset just about everyone backstage because he walks around the back like he is a god because of his big push and his three female valets. That leaves Sting. Sting hasn’t excited and electrified a crowd since he had blonde hair. Yeah, the Crow gimmick was really cool when he debuted it, two and a half years ago, but it has more than run its course and Steve Borden should have been fighting to get that dumb surfer gimmick back because he needs it.
The only thing that seems to be saving Sting is the fact that he will not be in the singles division anymore. He and Lex Luger, next on the list, look to be engaging in a feud with the Steiner brothers, the next two in line for a push. I really have no problem with Ric and Scott getting a push because they have a few good years left and given the opportunity, they can produce some quality matches. Luger has been out with an injury and he is getting a push…hmmm…The only problem that I have with any of these guys getting a push is that I don’t believe that they should get it through a friend who is higher up in the business.
The last three men to get a push in Bischoff’s master plan are Flair, Goldberg, and Piper. As far as Flair goes, I don’t mind seeing the WCW push his crazy angle a little more because it really is one of the more entertaining parts of the show. I do not believe that he should be pushed up to main event status again unless it is part of a double main event. Flair is doing a great job in his character as the crazy, power gluttonous President. Goldberg, I think, should get little to no push at all. What they need to do with Goldberg, besides reminding him that he is a one year veteran and shouldn’t be making contract demands, is take him back to the Power Plant and have him learn some more of those incredible moves that he performs. It is cool to see him do some three way bodyslam, but you can only see it so many times. Also, how exciting is a suplex finisher going to be in the next few years? Anyway, Goldberg should start another undefeated streak and go back to getting the title in about two years. The next on the list is none other than Piper. Can anyone say Piper’s Pit? NOW.
That’s my opinion at least! Bye!!!
